Mountain air doesn't get any purer than at Kosciuszko National Park. The park is named after Mount Kosciuszko, which at 2,228 metres, is Australia's highest mountain.
Home to the rare mountain pygmy possum and corroboree frog, and one of the Australian Alps national parks, this park is also a renowned UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
We need volunteers to help with the specific task of eradicating the Orange Hawkweed (OHW) invasive species. OHW poses a massive threat to ecosystems of the Australian Alps and we need volunteers to assist during December 2010 to February 2011.
What's Involved
Wild Mob has teamed up with NSW National Parks to help eradicate OHW during the peak of the plant's growing season.
We require a team of volunteers to locate and identify the OHW and use GPS units to mark the coordinates of infested areas. This information is required by National Parks to efficiently and effectively eradicate the weed.
