What We Offer
Here's a brief overview of what Wild Mob conservation projects offer to Students, Teachers, Parents and others groups.
The projects offer a perfect way for School Students, Duke of Edinburgh Participants, Scouts and other Youth Groups to lend a hand at vital conservation work, gain a hands-on environmental education and spend time exploring some of Australia's most unique habitats.
For Students and Youth
-
Hands-on learning — you’ll get the opportunity to apply the concepts you’ve learned in the classroom
-
A way to give back — you and your fellow students can truly feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of your project, knowing you've given something positive back to the environment
-
A chance to ask questions — you’ll learn about the local plants, animals and interconnected ecosystems within the place you visit, and get to ask questions along the way
-
A chance to meet the pros — along with the Wild Mob project leaders, you’ll also meet people working in the field of environmental conservation, like national parks staff, scientists and NRM professionals, and learn about their day-to-day responsibilities
-
Inspiration for the future — the experience on a Wild Mob project can help you decide about your future studies at university or your career
-
A cool holiday — you’ll get a chance to see some amazing things, like wild Tasmanian Devils, turtles and endangered wallabies, and you’ll see some unique places, like an island in the Great Barrier Reef, a Tasmanian rainforest or an Aboriginal cultural site
For Teachers and Youth Group Coordinators
-
Application of in-classroom teachings — you can take a more holistic approach to teaching students about environmental education, through hands-on conservation work and field research
-
Meet curriculum criteria — our projects fall in line with existing state curriculum objectives for science, geography, biology and earth sciences education, and will also meet the proposed national science curriculum, too
-
Unifying ideas and cross-curriculum sustainability issues — students can learn about how species interact, evolve and are threatened within habitats and within the larger interconnected ecosystems in which we all share
-
Flexibility in projects — we can work with you to arrange specific activities that supplement your lesson plans
-
Unique learning environments — students can visit places as varied as an island on the Great Barrier Reef, the coastal Tarkine region of Tasmania or Brigalow Belt habitat in the Queensland bush
-
Organisation and logistics — we organise all of the paperwork, our staff hold up-to-date first aid and working with children verifications (i.e., ‘Blue Cards’), and we have comprehensive risk assessments and insurance coverage for all of our projects
For Parents and Guardians
-
A holiday for your children (and you!) — Wild Mob projects offer a perfect way to send your children on a holiday where they’ll continue learning, even when they’re outside the classroom and gain a better appreciation for their natural surroundings
-
Peace of mind — all insurance and safety issues are taken care of; we hold insurance cover for all of our participants, have conducted comprehensive risk assessments for our projects and project staff hold proper working with children verifications (i.e., ‘Blue Cards’) and first aid training
