School Camps - Volunteering Opportunities
Environmental Conservation for School Students
1. Introduction
Wild Mob specializes in offering tailored camps for School groups who value the importance of environmental conservation work in Australia.
Our focus is to combine the much-needed manual labour with practical education on conservation, the environment and scientific research underpinning the work.
Students in High Schools with an interest in environmental management as well as students with a spirit of adventure and a love for the outdoorsare warmly welcomed.
The camps can be organised during the School term or holidays. Our experienced staff will take care of the project organisation, transfers, food, accommodation and a week full of conservation adventure.
2. Education
We are passionate about educating our volunteers and therefore these camps are an excellent opportunity for Schools to get students involved in a fun and rewarding, yet educational experience.
There is more than enough information we like to share, however we understand that different School groups have different educational values. We highly respect these needs and always like to discuss how Wild Mob can help contribute in achieving these goals. Our knowledgeable staff can prepare specialised educational content to coincide with curriculum needs, if requested in advance.
Often we find that Schools offer the camps as an extra-curricular activity, generally during the School break.
Wild Mob also organises activities that meet the criteria for ‘Duke of Edinburgh’ awards programme.
3. Testimonial
“For the students the experience moved them from an academic interest in conservation to real involvement in assisting an environment to regenerate.” – David Haliczer, Head of Science – St. Peters Lutheran College @ Brampton Island
"This is not just a holiday on the reef but even better because we get a sense of achievement for helping the local environment.” – year 12 student – St Peters Lutheran College @ Brampton Island
4. About the Camps
All camps are set within unique ecosystems at iconic Australian destinations
Included are:
- Transport from pick up and drop off location
- All meals, drinks and snacks
- Accommodation (varies per project)

5. Additional Activities
Depending on the project location, Wild Mob also offers a variety of special interest exercises outside the realm of practical conservation work. For example:

- Hiking through lush rainforest at Hidden Valley;
- Spotlighting for carnivorous predators such as Tasmanian Devil or Spotted Tail Quoll in Kings Run, Tasmania;
- Indigenous cultural workshops at Cape York;
- Building Camp fires;
- And many more fun activities.
6. Dates
The camps can be organised during School terms or holidays. Most projects however will be available during specific times of the year due to seasonal conditions.
7. Groups
We can take School groups of up to 12 individuals and accept students of the age 12 years and over.
All individuals are asked to complete our medical condition and dietary report prior to the camp so staff can take this into account and make any special arrangements if needed.
Are you an international School looking for a School camp in Australia? Wild Mob welcomes groups from all over the world. Contact us to discuss the opportunities available in more detail.
8. Staff
Our team consists of highly skilled and knowledgeable staff. The team members are devoted to give students and the group as a whole a real sense of achievement for helping the local environment.
Project leaders and staff all hold ‘blue cards’ to indicate Wild Mob promotes a safe environment for young people.
9. Contribution
Wild Mob is a not-for-profit organisation. We ask volunteers for a contribution conducted on a cost-recovery basis for project management, transfers, food and accommodation.
We also require a teacher to accompany the School camps. Wild Mob will cover the costs for this, as they will be jointly responsible for the care of the students.
Above all we aim to provide students and teachers with invaluable skills, knowledge and a truly amazing environmental experience that will last a lifetime.
